What is enough?

By M. Joseph Benric

Life, Money and Gratitude # 37

Many times we are asked what our goals are. Our dreams.  What do we aspire to be? Today I’m going to ask you; what is enough?

At what point will you be happy?  How much money and stuff do you need?  Would more stuff make any difference?

You and I are constantly bombarded by the media and advertising that we need more , better, bigger and newer.  You must dress in the latest fashion, have the newest car, the latest gadget, drink and party like the celebrities. More, more, more.

This is a tricky subject, you want to do well in life, you want to achieve things and be the best version of yourself.  Doing your best is applaudable, bringing out the best in others is a worthy goal.  But, it’s no good to be the richest man in the graveyard and leave a trail of sadness, mistrust and unhappiness behind(read the biographies of the rich).

Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines enough as  adj : adequate  adv 1: in an adequate manner  2: in a tolerable degree

So think about it.  The things that make you happy and smile when you really look at it cost very little.  You have to balance the scale between more and enough.  There must be time to enjoy it, to take a break.  I think that's why God put a day of rest every six days (pretty smart).  It gives you a chance to pray, spend some time with family or friends, put work aside and maybe take a nap.

It might just be that simple, figure out what’s enough for you.

Until next time, be well.
